We are searching for an accountant who has a strong background in New Zealand commercial property development and / or commercial construction, to join a highly successful and progressive commercial property development company, as the GROUP ACCOUNTANT.

The company has a long and successful track record, and is based on the North Shore. The Group consists of five entities supporting all facets of the commercial property development. The entities include development, design and consultancy, construction, machine and equipment hire and property management and leasing.

In this senior role, you will be reporting directly to the CEO, and you will be providing reporting and advice to the various Directors and Executive Leadership team along with other accounting duties.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Commercial property development feasibility
  • Construction project accounting
  • Financing and re-financing of construction projects
  • Capital raising
  • Compliance including GST, PAYE, FBT
  • Other Management accounting tasks including payroll

You will be working closely with key members of staff – especially with Quantity Surveyors in the construction entity for project reporting. You will also be working closely with external advisors. The company does not require a finance team per se, as most functions are carried out at a project level.

Key attributes we are seeking include:

  • Strong experience in New Zealand property development or construction accounting
  • Experienced in accurate development feasibility
  • Experience in capital raising
  • Experience in Development financing / re-financing
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Well-developed negotiation skills
  • CA qualification not essential (but preferred)
