Our client has a successful 20 year track record of commercial property development, and has an impressive pipeline of major commercial developments scheduled in the 5 – 10 year horizon.

The role:

This role is a critical leadership role, where you will be managing the design and consultancy business arm for the Group, to deliver architectural services that are “Best in Class” while maintaining financial and strategic goals. You will be reporting directly to the Group CEO.

As Principal Design Manager, you will be actively leading the team that include: a Project Leader, Architectural Technicians and a Graphic and Marketing Designer.

 

Key deliverables include:

  • Managing the design team through all phases from design development to delivery
  • Ensure that the team develop innovative designs that promote efficiency and quality in all the commercial property developments
  • Provide expert technical advice
  • Strategize, plan and manage the design process including proposals and engagement of consulting designers
  • Prepare construction programs
  • Regular reporting – including monthly Board reporting

 

The person:

  • Tertiary Qualification: B. Arch, NZCD (Arch) or similar
  • Certification: Registered Architect (NZ) or Licensed Building Practitioner, Class 3 - (Design)  
  • 10+ years’ working experience leading / managing design teams
  • Proven experience in all facets including: architectural design; Presentation; Documentation and Site Administration
  • Proven ability to strategize, plan, and manage the design process
  • Ability to promote efficiency in design and programme duration of the planning, consenting and build processes
  • Strong communication /negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of relevant New Zealand legislation - including Resource Consenting, Building Act, and relevant New Zealand building codes
